The minimum age limit for regional head candidates is a rule made to ensure that regional head candidates have sufficient maturity in various aspects to lead a region. However, regarding this rule, several parties have recently submitted a request for judicial review to the Constitutional Court with a request to declare that the rule in Article 7 paragraph (2) letter e of the Regional Election Law is no longer binding and needs to be reinterpreted regarding when the limits are calculated. age is carried out, whether when registering as a candidate for regional head or when being appointed. Therefore, this research aims to analyze the Constitutional Court's decision, namely decision Number 70/PUU-XXII/2024 from the perspective of maqashid sharia. This research is a library research type using secondary data sources consisting of primary, secondary and tertiary legal materials. The collected data was then analyzed using qualitative data analysis techniques. The results of this research conclude that in the current arrangement, even though it is not explained explicitly in the Regional Election Law, the minimum age limit is calculated from the time the regional head candidate pair is determined to take part in the regional head election contestation, not at the inauguration after the pair is elected. On the basis of this and various other considerations, the Constitutional Court in decision Number 70/PUU-XXII/2024 decided to reject the request for a judicial review of the norms in Article 7 paragraph (2) letter e of the Regional Election Law. Viewed from the perspective of maqashid sharia, this decision is in line with the concept of maqashid sharia in an effort to maintain the benefit of religion (hifz al-din) and the benefit of the people (hifz al-ummah) and create maslahat for the integrity of the nation and maintain the course of democracy.
